These quantities are real — and here's why.
They're based on guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS), Pampers, and Huggies — cross-referenced with real parent travel communities.
By age:
🍼 Newborns (0–3 mo) go through 10–12 diapers and 2–3 outfit changes per day. Blowouts happen after nearly every feed. These numbers aren't a suggestion.
👶 Infants (3–12 mo) average 8–9 diapers and ~1.5 outfit changes daily. Patterns are more predictable but travel disrupts routines.
🧒 Toddlers (1–4) need 5–7 diapers and 1 outfit per day plus 2 spares for the whole trip.
The longer the trip, the more alarming the totals look — that's intentional. Running out of diapers at a resort, on a cruise, or in a rural area is a real problem. These numbers assume no laundry access and no nearby store.
Have a washing machine or a Walmart nearby? Scale down freely. These are starting points, not rules.
